Yalumba

Yalumba is Australia's oldest family-owned winery, founded in 1849 at Angaston on the edge of the Barossa by English brewer Samuel Smith. More than 175 years later it is still run by his descendants, the Hill-Smith family, and is a member of Australia's First Families of Wine.

The winery is known for its flagship reds, including The Signature (Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz) and The Caley, a blend of Coonawarra Cabernet and Barossa Shiraz named after Fred Caley Smith, as well as Shiraz from very old vines, some dating to the mid-1800s. It is also regarded as Australia's leading producer of Viognier, with The Virgilius often seen as the country's benchmark example. Yalumba runs its own cooperage and a vine nursery that supplies grapevines to growers across Australia.

Sustainability is a major focus. Its winery and vineyards are fully accredited by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, it was the first Australian winery to earn Gold membership of International Wineries for Climate Action, and it has made organic wines since 2005.
