Our story
Every bottle has a story
The Vine started with a simple frustration: Australia makes some of the world's most exciting wine, but finding out about it meant digging through scattered cellar door sites, tasting notes and half-remembered labels.
So we built one place to search it all. Today The Vine is Australia's biggest wine database, with more than 63,000 wines from every corner of the country — from the big names to small-batch producers you've never heard of yet.
Search for the wine you're after, save the drops you love to your Vinelist, and share your lists with friends.

How wine reviews work
Any member can score a wine they've tried and add a short comment of up to 280 characters. Your scores help everyone find the bottles worth opening.
Why 80 to 100?
We use the 100-point scale because it's how most wine critics and wine shows score wine, so the numbers will feel familiar. In practice, anything below 80 is a faulty or poor wine that few people would recommend, so the scale starts at 80. That keeps the whole range for the differences that matter between good wines.
What the scores mean
Reviews are for a vintage
The same wine can taste quite different from one year to the next, so every review is for a specific vintage (or NV for non-vintage wines). You can review each vintage once, and edit or delete your review at any time from the wine's page or My reviews.
The community score
A wine's community score is the average of every member's review, across all its vintages. It's shown as a whole number on wine cards and to one decimal place on the wine's page, along with how many reviews it's based on. A score from a handful of reviews is a starting point; it becomes more reliable as more people weigh in. Scores from professional critics, where we have them, are shown separately.
Keeping it fair
- Reviews show your display name, never your full name or email.
- Moderators remove reviews that are abusive, offensive, spam or not about the wine. When a review is removed, the wine's community score updates straight away.
- Wineries can update their own producer page and wine details, but they can't edit, hide or remove reviews of their wines.
