Kimbolton Wines

Kimbolton Wines is a family-run producer in Langhorne Creek, South Australia, with vineyard roots going back to 1911, when Frank Potts II of Bleasdale bought a five-hectare block on the alluvial floodplain. The vineyard passed through the family to Henry and Thelma Case (Thelma was Frank's daughter), then to Len and Judy Case, and is now managed by their children, Nicole and Brad. The oldest vines are the House Block Shiraz, replanted in 1966.

The home vineyard has grown to 19.7 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Montepulciano. In 2001 the family added the Montrose property, which now also grows Carignan and Fiano, and the Kimbolton vineyards cover 58.5 hectares in all. They are still watered the traditional Langhorne Creek way, by floodgate weirs that divert the Bremer River through the vines, a system dating to the 1890s.

The family made its first Kimbolton vintage in 1998 and puts sustainability at the heart of the business. The family home still stands as an office beside the cellar door.
