Torbreck Vintners

Torbreck Vintners was created with the aim of building one of the finest wine estates in the world, paying homage to the vineyards of the Barossa Valley, home to some of the oldest vines on the planet. It was founded on a vision to honour and rejuvenate the Barossa's extraordinary old vineyards and ensure their survival for future generations, championing the classic Barossa varieties of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro.

The winemaking is deliberately hands-off and traditional, letting fruit and vineyard character speak, and the team constantly studies how each special site responds to the seasons and how soil, climate and farming show in the grapes. The Hillside vineyard, a south-facing site on the ridge between Seppeltsfield and Marananga planted in 1958, is meticulously hand-tended; its five acres yield small quantities of concentrated berries for a powerful yet restrained wine that can be cellared for decades. Torbreck is certified under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.

The name comes from a forest near Inverness in Scotland, and Celtic references run through the wine names: The Laird is named for the lord of the manor, and The Forebear honours those who came before. Visitors are welcome at the cellar door at Marananga.
