Tallis Wine is a family-owned and run vineyard among the rolling hills of Dookie in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, part of a family story going back to the 1800s. Richard Tallis, farmer, viticulturist and winemaker, grew up on the property and knows its land and geology well.
For more than 25 years Tallis has handmade single-vineyard wines on the farm, in limited quantities of Shiraz, Cabernet, Sangiovese, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Viognier and Riesling. Alice Tallis has been the public face of the business, and Paula manages the finances for the winery and the family's broadacre farm.
Richard and Alice ran a hillside cellar door for 12 years. In 2023 they leased the building to local operators, and it is now Rye at Tallis, an independent business.
