Stonier Wines

Stonier is one of the pioneering wineries of the Mornington Peninsula. Brian Stonier founded it in 1978 with the ambition of putting Peninsula fine wine on the world stage, and its vines are among the oldest in the region. He achieved that goal: in 1999 Decanter named the 1997 Stonier Reserve Pinot Noir the Best New World Red Wine of the Year.

The Stonier family sold the winery in the late 1990s. In December 2022 it returned to local ownership for the first time since then, when three Peninsula families, the Drummonds, McLeods and Thickinses, bought the winery, vineyards and brand. Stonier remains renowned for award-winning cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The cellar door, winery and home vineyards are at Merricks, next to the Merricks General Store. Tastings are hosted by the winemakers and vineyard team seven days a week, with local charcuterie and a children's play area.
