Slow Wine Co

Slow Wine Co is a small family company near Orange, New South Wales, that values time and natural processes. The family had farmed for many years and planted the vineyard in 1990 on the cool slopes of Mount Canobolas to diversify against drought and market swings, dreaming of one day making wine.

At first the grapes were sold to other winemakers while the vines matured. After a decade, Canberra winemaker Richard Parker helped make a first small parcel, and wines were released under the Bantry Grove name from 2004 to 2012. In 2013 young winemaker Will Rickard-Bell took over, bringing new energy to the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Yields are restricted to 5 to 5.8 tonnes per hectare so the fruit ripens fully over the long, cool season.

The cellar door is in the historic village of Millthorpe, 15 minutes from Orange, and serves tapas on Friday and Saturday nights.
