Severn Brae Estate at Severnlea in Queensland's Granite Belt was established in 1987, and its first vineyard, mainly Chardonnay, Merlot and Sangiovese, was planted in 1988.
In 1992 the family began making mead and liqueur mead from local orchard honey; the liqueur mead was named Best Australian Sweet Mead every year from 2007 to 2017. Sparkling wine followed in 1999, including the traditional-method Bella Severn Chardonnay Pinot Noir, along with liqueur Muscat, the Grumpy Old Bastard port-style liqueur and, from 2019, limoncello.
The Granite Belt Cheese Co has operated on site since 2008.
