Schild Estate Wines

Schild Estate Wines is a Barossa Valley family winery whose hands have tended some of the valley's most treasured and rare vines since 1952, with knowledge passed down through the generations so that each vineyard's terroir shows in the wines.

The jewel is the Moorooroo vineyard, between Jacob's Creek and the North Para River, whose name comes from an Indigenous word meaning meeting of two waters. Its last four rows of Shiraz were planted in 1847 by Ann Jacobs, just eleven years after South Australia was founded, placing them among the oldest vines in the world, and the wine made from them is a sought-after collector's item, prized for its delicacy, balance and fine tannins. Other sites include centenarian bush vines planted in 1916 high on the hills above Rowland Flat and still hand picked; Angus Brae near Lyndoch, bought in 2001 and named after Ed Schild's grandson; Three Springs at 380 metres, home of the original family homestead; and The Workshop, bought in 1993.

The premium collection reflects the southern Barossa's elegant, refreshing style and the family's belief that wine is a reflection of its time and place.
