Rusden Wines is a family vigneron business at Vine Vale on the Barossa Valley floor, where the terroir is deep white sand over red clay. The family regards Vine Vale as the most versatile and consistent grape-growing district on the valley floor, and its wines have a distinctive balance and structure.
The vineyard is tended by hand, including old vines such as Shiraz planted in 1969, which the family brought back block by block after years of machine harvesting. In the cellar they follow traditional methods. The focus is on traditional Barossa varieties and blends, but they are happy to try different varieties too.
The 'Den' cellar door has views over the winery to the Barossa Ranges, hosts dinners with museum wines cooked in a wood oven, and displays artwork by Amy Loechel.
