Rudderless Wines is the creation of wine expert and publican Doug Govan, whose vineyard surrounds the Victory Hotel at the southern end of McLaren Vale. His long passion for fine wine and careful development of the premium vineyard around the hotel brought international success from Rudderless's first year.
All the wines come from the five-acre estate vineyard, which has a maritime climate, and are made with winemaker Peter Fraser of Yangarra. The tiny Malbec planting of just 487 vines has scored 95 points.
Rudderless was named one of the top ten value wineries in the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion, and its wines appear on the lists of many restaurants.
