Quarry Hill is a boutique, family-owned and run vineyard just outside Canberra, at 630 to 655 metres in the cool-climate Canberra District. It was established in 1999 by Professor Deane Terrell after his term as vice-chancellor of the Australian National University.
The first plantings in 1999 were Pinot Noir, but most of the 4.5 hectares are now Shiraz, with small blocks of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot. In 2006 Tempranillo and Savagnin, then thought to be Albariño, were added; the 2013 Lost Acre Tempranillo was named Wine of the Week by the Canberra Times.
Quarry Hill has no cellar door but holds occasional invitation-only events for its mailing list.
