Prophet's Rock is a Central Otago, New Zealand, winery founded in the late 1990s to capture the region's distinctive terroir. Its name honours a 19th-century gold prospector, and its vineyards, the Home Vineyard and Rocky Point, are planted on steep terraces of ancient soils.
Winemaker Paul Pujol joined in 2005. He began in Marlborough, became the first non-French head winemaker at Maison Kuentz-Bas in Alsace since its founding in 1795, and worked in Oregon. Since 2009 he has collaborated with François Millet of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé in Burgundy.
The winemaking is minimal-intervention and terroir-driven.
