Mapleton Vineyard is near the hamlet of Tea Tree in Tasmania's Coal River Valley, owned by the Laing family: Paul and his parents Denis and Kathryn.
Paul bought Mapleton in 2004, and the family planned a vineyard on its gently rolling north-facing slopes. After planting the first hectare of Pinot Noir, they bought the neighbouring Woodlands property and, six months later, Lynwood, with four hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling planted in 2003, which they restored.
The vineyard makes small-batch Tasmanian wines with a hands-on approach from vine to bottle.
