Lloyd Brothers

Lloyd Brothers is a family-owned winery and olive grove in the heart of McLaren Vale, handcrafting wines and olives from its McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills estates. The family's wine roots go back to 1969, when Hugh and Molly Lloyd established Coriole Vineyards as the family winery for themselves and their five children. In 1985 brothers Guy and Mark Lloyd bought the historic Olive Grove Block just over the hill from Coriole to expand into table olives and extra virgin olive oil.

In 2000 Guy's sons Matthew and David Lloyd bought back the original Olive Grove Block, re-establishing the Lloyd Brothers Wine & Olive Company. Matthew, who had developed the Kangarilla estate that is now home to Yangarra, later moved to the Adelaide Hills near Oakbank; he is no longer involved day to day but still supplies fruit from his Hills vineyard.

The McLaren Vale property is one of Australia's oldest commercial olive groves, with Verdale trees planted by an English pioneer in the late 1800s; in the 1960s a Greek immigrant grafted many over to Kalamata, creating what is believed to be the state's first commercial Kalamata grove. Today it is home to the estate vineyards, winery, cellar door and a purpose-built barrel hall that hosts festivals, weddings and events. Lloyd Brothers is a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
