Karatta Wines is a family-owned, estate-grown wine business near Robe on South Australia's Limestone Coast, founded by Peg and David Woods in 1997. The Woods family began working the land in 1975 with a sheep grazing business, bought the historic Karatta House in 1989, and in the late 1990s saw the potential for vines and planted their first vineyard, Tenison.
The winery and vineyards are on the family property, about ten minutes from Robe along the Robe-Penola Road towards Coonawarra. Close to the Southern Ocean, the vineyards enjoy a cool maritime climate. The family has since built a winery, expanded the vineyards and opened The Wine Room.
Karatta takes pride in its long ties to the Robe community, and its tasting room is in the town.
