Indigo Vineyard

Indigo Vineyard is a winery in the Beechworth region of north-east Victoria, between Beechworth and Wangaratta, about ten minutes from Beechworth town. Its 46 hectares were planted from 1999 to twelve varieties: Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne and Pinot Gris among the whites, and Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Nebbiolo among the reds.

Several clones of each variety were planted, mostly on rootstock, but some special own-rooted blocks came from famous vineyards: Shiraz cuttings from Brokenwood's Graveyard, the Rayner Vineyard and Seville Estate's old vines, and Roussanne from Giaconda. The team describes growing great grapes as its core business, with every vine tended by hand.

The cellar door is open seven days and is known for pizzas, platters and garden views. Gourmet Traveller WINE named it Beechworth's best large cellar door, and there is a farm-stay lodge.
