Glenguin Estate

Glenguin Estate is a Hunter Valley producer at Broke Fordwich, making single-vineyard, low-intervention wines with a focus on the Hunter's regional heroes, Semillon and Shiraz. It belongs to the family of Robin Tedder, Australia's seventh Master of Wine and the third Baron Tedder. The name is the original Scots Gaelic name of the Highland distillery now called Glengoyne, where his grandfather, Marshal of the RAF Arthur Tedder, was born in 1890.

The vineyard was first planted in the 1980s, and its Shiraz and Semillon vines descend directly from James Busby's original plantings at Kirkton in the 1820s, grown on their own roots: Shiraz on a raised gravel bench and Semillon on sandy loam over red basalt. Organic and biodynamic principles are followed, with planting, training, pruning and picking done by hand.

The flagship Aristea Shiraz is highly rated, with the 2014 scoring 98 points from James Halliday, and Glenguin has also made wine from the historic Black Cluster vineyard.
