Eldridge

Eldridge Estate is a small, family-run vineyard and winery at the top of Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula, making elegant, delicate wines with gentle, considered winemaking. Owners Elli and Vicki Tutungi tend everything themselves, with Elli continuing to practise as an anaesthetist, and their sons Jacob and Jared work in the vineyard and winery.

The three-hectare vineyard is one of the highest on the Peninsula, at about 225 metres, with a climate the family compares to Burgundy. It faces north on a slope that drops 45 metres from near Arthurs Seat Road to a spring-fed dam, sheltered from harsh winds, on red volcanic soils. This long, cool ripening suits the estate's focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The family avoids monoculture farming and removes invasive weeds, and the vineyard is alive with insects, birds and frogs. Visitors can taste at the cellar door overlooking the valley.
