Eldredge

Eldredge Wines is a family winery in the Sevenhill Ranges of South Australia's Clare Valley. In 1993 Leigh Eldredge bought 45 hectares and planted Shiraz and Sangiovese, and in 1994 he and Karen bought the property with its stone cottage, built around 1920, fully renovated it and opened the cellar door in October that year. Eldredge recently celebrated 30 years.

About 23 hectares are under vine, and Leigh's wines strongly reflect variety and region, challenging some of Australia's top producers. At the 2004 Great Australian Shiraz Challenge, judged by James Halliday, John Duval and Stephen Henschke, the 2002 Blue Chip Shiraz won a gold medal from 264 entries.

The cellar door on Spring Gully Road is open seven days, overlooking a large dam, with a deck, lawns and a small providore for picnics and platters.
