Cranswick Wines

Cranswick Wines was created in 1991, when Graham Cranswick-Smith led a management buy-out of Diageo's bulk winemaking facility in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Since then it has transformed from making bulk wine for major Australian producers into a maker of its own branded wines.

The wines are made to capture ripe fruit flavours and the elegance of contemporary Australian winemaking, from grapes grown in selected vineyards across Australia under long-term contracts. The Lakefield range comes from the Riverina, centred on Griffith, where grapes have been grown since 1912, while the Sarus Shiraz is made from Barossa Valley fruit.

The family name is thought to come from Crane's Wyke, the 'village of cranes' in Yorkshire, recorded in the Domesday Book.
