Collector Wines

Collector Wines is a Canberra District producer founded in 2005 by winemaker Alex McKay, with just a handful of cool-climate Shiraz and a determination to make elegant, long-lived wines. That first wine, the 2005 Marked Tree Red Shiraz, became NSW Wine of the Year.

Alex grew up in the area and got his first taste of winemaking with Canberra District pioneer Edgar Riek at Lake George. From 2000 he was winemaker at Hardys' flagship winery in the district, building an intimate knowledge of the region's climate, soils and vineyards.

Collector is known for wines of pure regional expression and varietal definition. The Tiger Tiger Chardonnay 2021 won gold and was a finalist for the Chardonnay trophy at the 2025 National Wine Show. A new tasting room is due to open in 2026.
