Cloudbreak is the small-batch label of winemaker Jack Tomich, made from a single family vineyard high in the Adelaide Hills. Wine runs deep in the family: Jack's great-great-grandfather Jack Tomich Sr came from Croatia's Adriatic coast in 1903 and planted vines at Mildura in 1936, and the family has farmed the Woodside site for nearly thirty years. Jack grew up pruning there and blending with his father and grandfather, and launched Cloudbreak in 2020 as something of his own beyond the family's Tomich label.
The vineyard sits mid-region at about 400 metres, with more than 60 hectares across some 30 blocks and views to Mount Torrens and Mount Lofty. After the 2019 Cudlee Creek bushfire tore through it, the family rethought everything, moving to site-specific farming in smaller parcels and picking for flavour, acidity and balance.
The aim is seriously good wine that doesn't take itself too seriously. Jack was a 2026 Young Gun of Wine finalist.
