Canobolas Wines is the third-oldest vineyard in the Orange region of New South Wales and one of its most significant premium producers. The vineyard and winery were established in 1985 by the Smith family, pioneers of the Orange wine industry, who chose the site high on the north-facing slopes of Mount Canobolas, on Wiradjuri country, after a long search for the right climate, soil and aspect.
Over 40 years Canobolas has been highly awarded and is regarded as one of the best sites in Orange. Its Chardonnay has received the highest score ever for the region, and its Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are equally praised.
Today the Mattick family farms the vineyard on regenerative principles, building on the Canobolas-Smith legacy with wines of delicacy and finesse. Tastings are by reservation.
