Bird in Hand

Bird in Hand is a family-owned winery established in 1997 in the Adelaide Hills, with a passion for sustainable cool-climate winemaking, bespoke experiences, social advocacy and contemporary art. Founders Andrew and Susie Nugent live on the Woodside Estate with their adult children Lalla, Ted and Oscar, who have worked in the business over the years; Andrew is executive director, and Susie, a garden designer, oversees the award-winning estate gardens.

The 80-acre Woodside Estate sits where the cooling influence of Gulf St Vincent meets the clouds of the Mount Lofty Ranges, on some of the world's oldest soils. The Nugents see the vineyard as a living canvas, blending sustainability, innovation and artistry, and sustainability is woven into the brand's identity. Bird in Hand has expanded beyond the Adelaide Hills into Tasmania and now makes globally recognised cool-climate wines across four series.

Over more than 25 years the estate has become a destination for lovers of wine, art and culture. It is home to the Bird in Hand cellar door, the LVN restaurant, the 'O' Quarters luxury private accommodation and breathtaking gardens.
