Barton Estate

Barton Estate is a small family-owned producer of handmade premium Canberra District wines from estate-grown fruit, near Murrumbateman. Owners Bob, the son of a Wollongong steelworker, and Julie, the daughter of a Western Australian wheat farmer, met through careers in plant biology research at CSIRO, where they discovered a shared love of wine. They bring that science to their artisan wines.

Twenty acres of vines grow among remnant Yellow Box and Blakely's red gum woodland in the historic Jeir Valley, on sunny north-facing slopes with minimal frost risk.

The 220-acre property was once part of the historic Jeir Station and is home to the 16-stand Jeir woolshed, more than 100 years old and one of the largest and oldest in the Southern Tablelands. The ventilated dome on its roof inspired the Barton Estate logo.
